What is the perfect grind?
Coffee lovers will have a different answer to this question.
But for masonry, specifically tuckpointing, the perfect grind means everything.
It’s the mark of high-quality craftsmanship.
Tuckpointing helps prevent water from entering your building by repairing old and damaged mortar joints. If not properly repaired, water will seep down the inside of the building. The moisture will do a serious amount of unseen damage, including mold, mildew and rotting wood.
During the process of tuckpointing, mortar joints are typically grind down 5/8 of an inch to 3/4 of an inch.
To ensure all of the existing mortar is removed, you need “The Perfect Grind.”
If any existing mortar is left behind, it could cause further problems down the road.
Make sure your next tuckpointing project has the mark of high-quality work with
“The Perfect Grind” (maybe without the cream and sugar)
